Medical investigations

Medical investigations and treatment plans

When something is wrong, guessing is expensive. We investigate in a sensible order, explain what each test will and will not tell us, and manage long-term conditions from home.

Working out what is actually going on

Weight loss, drinking more, vomiting, coughing, itching, a change in behaviour — most of these have several possible causes. We start with a thorough history and examination, then choose the tests that will genuinely change the plan.

Blood and urine samples are collected at home and sent to an external laboratory; results are usually back within a day or two and we ring you to talk them through rather than emailing numbers.

If imaging, an anaesthetic, surgery or hospitalisation is the right next step, we arrange it with a local practice we know, share the history, and pick the case up again once your pet is home.

Sampling and diagnostics

Blood, urine, faecal and skin sampling, cytology, blood pressure and ECG-guided referral where a heart problem is suspected.

Long-term condition management

Arthritis, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, heart failure, Cushing’s and epilepsy — monitored on a schedule, adjusted as things change.

Costs and options up front

You get the realistic choices, what each one is likely to cost, and our honest view of what we would do for our own animals.

Surgery, imaging and hospital care

Arranged with trusted practices across Sussex and Kent, with us involved before, during and after — you are not handed over and forgotten.

Something not right with your pet?

Describe the symptoms and we will tell you whether this needs a visit today, a visit this week, or a trip to a hospital instead.
