Animal Health Certificates, signed at your kitchen table
Travelling to the EU or Northern Ireland with your dog, cat or ferret means an Animal Health Certificate issued by an Official Veterinarian within ten days of departure. Joe is an OV and completes the paperwork at home, unhurried and checked twice.
How the certificate process works
Certificates are refused at the border for small errors, so we take the checking seriously and start well before the appointment.
Step one
Ring us early
Tell us your travel date and destination. We check your microchip and rabies vaccination dates against the requirements straight away.
Step two
Get any gaps fixed
If a rabies vaccination is needed, it must be given at least 21 days before travel. We can do that at home too.
Step three
Certificate appointment
Within ten days of departure we examine your pet, complete and sign the certificate, and go through each page with you.
Step four
Coming home
Dogs returning from most countries need tapeworm treatment 24–120 hours before re-entry. We explain the timing and can supply it.
Bring to the appointment
- Your pet’s microchip number and rabies vaccination record
- Your travel dates, route and destination country
- The name and address of the person travelling with the pet
- Any previous EU pet passport, if you still have it
